Reboot Info
My second 2002 Triumph Bonneville America, purchased used in June 2011. I don’t intent to change nearly as much on this bike as I did with Bollox, so for now I’ll keep all the info on this page.
Name
Initially I thought I’d call it “Spare,” since that’s the real reason I bought it. Bollox was having electrical issues and there was a very real chance I wouldn’t get to ride at all in 2011. I saw this bike, virtually identical to Bollox right down to the original black and silver paint, on BonnevilleAmerica.com for $4000. I knew the owner, I knew the bike’s history (rather sordid at times), but felt confident it would be a good motorcycle. Unlike Bollox, it wasn’t perfect. It had seen a couple fender-bending altercations but had been all fixed up. The frame is straight, the engine runs like a top and it handles great. While visiting friends at the SWTF in Prescott, AZ, it hit me. It’s the same bike. It’s a “Reboot.”
Starting Point
Reboot had 10,336 miles on it and came with the following:
- Triumph short sissybar and luggage rack
- Pingle high-flow petcock
- Rizoma handlebar clock (for sale)

- Headlight and driving light visors
- Triumph Tachometer
- Triumph Touring gel passenger seat (for sale)
- Garage door opener under left side cover wired to pushbutton in cover

Additions/Acquisitions/Changes
The idea here is to make Reboot the bagger (“Geezer Glide”), all set up for long road trips. That said, I don’t want to spend much, if any, “new” money on it, until it comes time for consumables like tires and brakes and such. As such I’ve been raiding Bollox and my shelves for parts. Since the purchase I’ve made the following changes:
- Installed Corbin Solo seat and backrest from Bollox
- Installed rear peg brackets from Bollox
- Installed Windvest from Bollox (old bracket)
- Installed Tsukayu Hard Saddlebags from Bollox
- Installed P-clamp and belt clip bracket from Bollox (for GPS)
- Installed Clear turn signal lenses from Bollox (newspeedmaster)
- Installed Laydown license plate bracket from Bollox (Zdenko Milin)
- Installed Chrome America license plate frame from Bollox (newspeedmaster)
- Installed Luggage Spools from Bollox (newspeedmaster)
- Installed Cramp Buster (okay, I guess this is new since I lost my Throttle Rocker)
- Installed Go Cruise Throttle Control (originally purchased for, but never used on, Bollox)
- Installed Cool Rider Beverage Holder (yeah, that’s right a cup holder, you gotta problem with that?)
- Acquired Specialty Spares long canon mufflers (I won an expensive Triumph Leather Jacket at the 2011 Kootenay Raid in Nelson, BC, and traded that jacket for the pipes.)
- Installed my original custom lightbar bracket and Factory Triumph driving lights (used)
- Installed aluminum oil filler cap from Bollox (Bellacorse)
- Installed Yamaha mirrors for stock mirror stems from Bollox (fasteddysports)
- Installed Bonneville T-100 chrome sprocket cover from Bollox
- Acquired King of Fleece seat cover for Corbin solo
Total spent since purchase: $0. Actually, $-60, since I sold the chrome sprocket cover.
Parts left to pull off Bollox for Reboot:
- Factory footboard kit
- Chrome Cam cover
- Engine crash bars, first gen. (actually wasn’t ever installed on Bollox)
- Chrome clutch cable bracket
- Scottoiler
Trips/Destinations
- Great Falls, MT
- Billings, MT
- Nelson, BC
